The entrance porches of #victorian houses often have decorative tiles, but this is the first time I’ve seen those tiles with portraits.
These are Field Marshal the Earl Robert’s V.C. and Major-General Hector MacDonald, both of whom served with distinction in the 2nd Boer War. That then dates this house to around 1900.
